New artist Training: Getting Started

Welcome

Welcome to the Maskcara sisterhood.  We’re so excited to have you here!

party pals

At Maskcara, we have the neatest opportunity to not only earn commissions on the makeup we sell, but we can also earn free product!  The best way to do this is to run all your sales through a “party” (or sometimes we like to call them “classes”).

Have a look at this video all about how to set up a party in your back office.  Shop your own party every time you are looking to purchase any Maskcara goodies and earn rewards!

Party hot tips: Set the start date for the day you set it up, but the end date doesn’t matter. Just choose any date far in the future. Also, you’ll want to use the same party link until that particular party reaches $1K in sales. At that point, you’ll want to “close” that party and start a new one. You’ll maximize your half-off items this way when it comes to earning rewards!

(NOTE: If you shop your own party link, you will pay full retail even when logged in as an artist. This is great because you’ll get more commission on the sale itself when you get paid, AND you’ll drive your commissionable volume higher for the month, which will allow you to potentially enter higher sales commissions brackets.)

“the Stag”

The Seint Artist Group (aka “The StAG”) is a great resource.  In this clip, Jackie Richards shares how to leverage corporate’s artist-only Facebook group to learn from other artists, find answers to questions, and to participate in the community by staying connected. And don’t forget to tune in to Cara’s bi-monthly webinars!

  • First Monday of the month at 8pm MST: monthly message

  • Third Wednesday of the month at 8pm MST: recognition and announcements

If your sponsor has not already added you, request to join the group and keep an eye out for your approval and circle back once you’re in. Don’t forget to include artist ID when requesting to join (you can find it on your email confirmation you got when you enrolled).

post and pique interest

Social media has really changed the game for our profession. Here are some neat tips from Jessica Perez all about ideas for your first post or two on social media.

HOMEWORK: Use Seint’s feed and other images from team groups to repost things to inspire a little curiosity about our products and business. Leverage your upline for help with color matching and getting your first order or two placed. Pique interest and follow up!

(Pro tip: Once your kit does arrive, definitely do a LIVE unboxing video on Facebook!)

color matching

Time to start learning how to color match!  In this video, Kat Fairchild is going to share with you some helpful tips on color matching.  You can also head to the trainings section of this website to watch more trainings on the topic of color matching and makeup artistry AFTER your first 30 days (don’t try to get extra trainings on this in right away)! And until you feel comfortable color matching on your own, you can share your new customers’ selfie photos with your sponsor, and she can help you select the correct colors for your gal.

(Optional: Collect payment and shipping information for your new customer and input the order on their behalf for the first one. Your sponsor can show you how to do that by creating a login for her and shopping your latest party link.)

Save Kat’s color-matching script (note: prices shown reflect USA pricing) below to a note on your phone, so that you’re ready when people reach out for a color match!

Ok, here is what you need!!

You can grab it all here: <insert party link>

+ Highlight -

+ Extra Highlight for brightening under eyes and forehead -

+ Contour -

+ Blush - You choose! It’s fun to have 2-3 options. I love Frenchie, Dahlia and Hollywood!

+ Illuminator -

+ Bronzer - Bella

+ Setting powder - Vanilla Dust

+ Eyeshadow - Our eyeshadows are $12 each and they are the most amazing, smooth and pigmented formula!

+ Brushes - It’s so hard to narrow down the brushes

1) 30-Second HAC and/or Detail HAC (for your highlight + contour) I use both everyday.

2) Blush+Bronzer brush (for your blush, bronzer and/or powder, and blending)

3) I Shadow Everything brush (for your eyeshadow)

4) Power Powder brush (for pressing powder into your shiny spots to set)

+ Stay setting spray is amazing to set your makeup! It comes with or without SPF.

+ Perfector sponge to blend everything out nicely! It’s super squishy goodness!

+ Compact - Most ladies want to start with the Mini Double Decker — that compact is free with 10 singles and will leave you a little room to grow (it holds 12).

Check out the Collections tab to see the current specials; you can get more for less there!

Oh! If you are looking for a great moisturizer, check out the Milk moisturizing cream. It’s so hydrating, luxurious and nourishing for your skin. Everyone is OBSESSED with it, it’s one of our top selling products! Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin!

Here’s a great and super easy demo by my friend Amanda that’ll help you with application that you can refer back to when you get your stuff!

Ok I know that is SO much info, but please let me know if you have any questions at all!

customer care

So now that you’ve set up a party and color matched someone, it’s time to welcome them as a new customer!  Remember, the first time someone purchases from you does not really make them a “customer”... yet.  Someone who buys the makeup once is just a one-time product-trier.  But once a person returns to purchase again and again, then you can know that you have a happy returning customer!

Check out this clip by Stacy Smart as she discusses some great ways you can nurture your first-time customer, so that she becomes a customer for life!

Every time you get a new customer, send an email like the one below to welcome her to the tribe (feel free to copy!).

New Customer Email:

“Hi! Just wanted to let you know your Maskcara order is in and on it’s way shortly! Thank you again for shopping with me.  I hope you love the products as much as I do!

Here is a quick little clip as a reminder how to use your new 3D Foundation: https://youtu.be/NFm-8p9mNw4

Don’t forget to get your Perfector Sponge completely wet and squeeze it out with a clean, dry towel before using it to blend your makeup.  And a great setting spray (I DO love our “Stay” setting spray for this) really helps it have that extra staying power!

Also, if you find that the makeup isn’t blending (that’s a color match issue — an easy fix!) or if you find that the makeup maybe isn’t staying on as well as you’d like, have a quick peek at this video to review some handy troubleshooting tips.  Of course, I am here to help with questions anytime as well!  Here’s that troubleshooting clip: https://youtu.be/YhSLTSqlSAI

You can log back in to your Maskcara account anytime at maskcarabeauty.com. You can also text, call, or email me anytime you need more product and I can be sure it gets out to you from my end.

Have a great day and Thanks again!”

(Pro tip: It’s also recommended that after you send this email to your new customer, take a minute to personalize the message slightly with a note at the top such as “It was so great getting together today!  I loved hearing all about your vacation and catching up!” Don’t forget to include your contact info at the bottom.)
